The usual usage range is 0.5% to 5%. Even small amounts noticeably influence the character of a woody accord – the sandalwood appears more clearly defined and remains recognizable for longer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA particular advantage in practical use: Ebanol™ retains its effect even in demanding, strongly alkaline bases (see combining), where many other materials weaken.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003ePractical note: dissolving, storing, combining\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eDissolving:\u003c\/strong\u003e Practically insoluble in water (34.1 mg\/L at 20 °C), with a Log Pow of 4.2 readily soluble in fatty and alcoholic carriers. In skin tests on the rabbit, no skin irritation was seen, likewise no eye irritation (tested on rabbits and humans). In sensitization tests in humans (HRIPT) and in animals, no sensitizing potential was found. Phototoxicity and genotoxicity (Ames test, chromosome aberration test) also tested negative.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA positive point: according to test data, Ebanol™ is readily biodegradable (66% degradation within 28 days, OECD 301F) – a difference from some other aroma molecules in this price class.
