A good fragrance begins long before the first materials are mixed – with the choice of raw materials and an understanding of their character.

At Labor am Meer we offer perfumery raw materials for everyone who explores scents and develops their own compositions. In the product descriptions you will find the odour character, the key properties and notes on safe handling. For diluted materials we state the concentration and the carrier, so that you know exactly what you are working with.

Small fills make it possible to get to know individual molecules, bases and extracts, to try them out in a composition and to choose the right materials for your project.

Materials and small fills

Our range includes aroma chemicals, perfume bases, natural extracts and solvents. Small fills make it possible to get to know a material, assess it in dilution and test it in your own composition before buying larger quantities.

They are suitable for training, development, making samples and creative experiments. Our customers are hobby perfumers, students, creatives with their own projects, and developers.

For the regular supply of a production, larger purchases and deliveries with individual documentation requirements, we offer a separate business collaboration.

We sell perfumery raw materials, not finished perfumes or cosmetic products. The materials are not intended for direct application to the skin or for any other consumer use without appropriate development and safety assessment.

Shipping and processing

All orders are shipped from Germany with DHL and tracking. After shipping you will receive a tracking number with which you can follow the status of your parcel.

We ship internationally, currently to more than 30 countries. Available countries, shipping methods and shipping costs are shown during checkout. Whether shipping is possible depends on the destination country and on the properties of the selected materials.

If shipping to your country is not available during checkout, please contact us before purchasing. We will then look into an individual shipping option, taking into account transport restrictions and the requirements of the destination country.

Processing a paid order usually takes 1–3 business days. During periods of high order volume or when an additional check is needed, it may take longer. We will inform you of any significant delay.

Before shipping, we check that the goods match the order, as well as the quantity, labelling and condition of the packaging. The materials are additionally protected to reduce the risk of damage and leakage during transport.

The processing time does not include the delivery time. After handover to the carrier, the transit time depends on the destination country, the delivery services and any customs procedures. Stated delivery times are guide values.

Customs and import duties

For deliveries outside the European Union, import duties, import taxes and customs clearance fees may apply. Unless expressly stated otherwise during checkout, these costs are not included in the product or shipping price and are borne by the recipient. Shipments to the USA are the exception (see below).

We recommend checking the destination country's import regulations for the selected materials before purchasing. We provide the required customs information on our side; the competent customs authority decides on the admission of the goods.

Shipping to the USA

We send all shipments to the USA (including Puerto Rico) with DHL Premium International and tracking – always with DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). US import duties are already included in the order total and are paid by us in advance. No further customs or duty charges apply on delivery.

We transmit all required customs information, including the product description, tariff number and country of origin. The duration of a customs inspection depends on the competent authorities.

Information on the materials and labelling

The packaging states the name of the material, the quantity and the applicable labelling under the CLP Regulation, including hazard statements and precautionary statements. For diluted materials, the concentration and carrier are also stated.

In the product description you will find the odour description, the key properties and notes on safe handling.

Please read the description of the material and its intended use before purchasing. Before starting work, read the labelling on the packaging carefully and observe the stated precautions.

Scope of delivery and additional documents

A standard delivery from the online shop includes the ordered material in the selected fill and packaging with the corresponding labelling.

Certificates of analysis (CoA), specifications, further manufacturer documents, formulation recommendations and individual consultation are not part of the standard scope of delivery for online shop orders and are not provided after purchase.

If you need additional documents or consultation for your project, please clarify the options before ordering. We handle such requests separately within the framework of a business collaboration.

The purchase of a material does not include the subsequent provision of documents or services that are not part of the shop's standard offer. Requirements expressed after purchase do not change the agreed scope of delivery.

The absence of these additional documents and services does not constitute a defect of the goods or an incomplete delivery. This provision restricts neither the provision of legally required safety information nor the buyer's statutory rights.

Buying in the online shop as a business

You can also buy in the online shop on behalf of a company and receive an invoice with its details. When ordering, enter the full company name, the billing address and – if available – the USt-IdNr. (VAT ID).

Such a purchase is subject to the online shop's range, prices, payment methods and delivery terms.

An invoice issued to a company does not mean registration in our business customer programme and does not automatically grant access to individual delivery terms or additional documentation.

Providing a USt-IdNr. does not in itself exempt the order from VAT: the tax treatment depends on the circumstances of the delivery and the applicable regulations.

Separate service for registered business customers

We serve registered business customers separately within our business customer programme, outside this online shop. Business customer orders are not processed via the website.

For such deliveries we agree directly on:

  • material list and pack sizes
  • quantities and prices
  • minimum order value
  • payment and delivery terms
  • expected processing times
  • scope of the documentation provided

We clarify the availability of certificates of analysis (CoA), safety data sheets (SDS), specifications and further documents when preparing the quotation – depending on the material concerned and on the documentation of the manufacturer or distributor.

Registration for a business collaboration

To review a request, we ask for:

  • a current extract from the commercial register; if the company is not entered in the commercial register, proof of business registration
  • information on the company's activities and the intended use of the materials
  • tax number and USt-IdNr. (VAT ID), if available
  • permits or licences, where required for the activity concerned

After reviewing the information, we confirm whether a collaboration is possible and agree on the delivery terms.

We treat the information received confidentially. If information about the company or the intended use of the material must be shared with the manufacturer or distributor to check availability, it may be passed on to the extent necessary and in compliance with the applicable data protection regulations.

Process and delivery times for business customer orders

We put together business customer orders individually according to the agreed request. Availability, pack size, price and processing time depend on availability at the manufacturer or distributor.

Preparing an order can take from a few days to several weeks. We state the expected delivery time with the quotation before the order is confirmed.

Payment is made by invoice on the agreed terms. Invoicing does not automatically mean that a payment term is granted.

Safe handling and use

Working with perfumery raw materials requires precautions. A small fill or a pleasant scent does not mean that a material is safe for direct application.

When working with the materials:

  • follow the instructions on the label and in the applicable documentation
  • do not apply raw materials directly to the skin
  • avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes
  • do not ingest materials
  • use suitable protective equipment and ventilation depending on the properties of the material
  • store materials tightly closed, with the labelling intact and under the conditions stated for the product concerned
  • keep out of reach of children and pets
  • observe the requirements for disposing of residues and packaging

The buyer is responsible for selecting the material for their project and for its proper storage, dilution, mixing and further use.

Anyone who manufactures products for sale must themselves ensure that these meet the applicable requirements, including safety assessment and labelling.

The product description serves to introduce the material. It is not a formulation, not individual technical advice and not a confirmation of the safety of a finished composition.

The seller's statutory liability remains unaffected.

Review and acceptance of orders

Before accepting an order, we may request additional information, propose a change to the quantity or shipping method, or decline acceptance.

Reasons may include transport or import restrictions, lack of availability, incomplete or contradictory information, indications of unsafe use, or the need to arrange a purchase for production or resale separately.

If an order cannot be fulfilled, we will inform you and propose an available solution. Changes to a contract already concluded are made by agreement with the buyer or on legally provided grounds.

If an order is cancelled and the contract terminated, the payment made will be refunded in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Returns and opened products

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal for distance purchases, generally within 14 days. The procedure, deadlines and conditions are described in our cancellation policy.

We do not take back opened or used materials as part of a voluntary return or exchange. Once opened, we can no longer confirm the integrity of the contents, the absence of contamination or compliance with storage conditions.

For sealed goods that are not suitable for return for reasons of health protection or hygiene, the statutory right of withdrawal expires if their seal or protective packaging has been removed after delivery and the conditions of § 312g Abs. 2 Nr. 3 BGB (German Civil Code) are met.

Otherwise, the statutory provisions on withdrawal and the terms of the shop's cancellation policy apply.

If handling of the goods goes beyond what is necessary to examine their nature and properties and leads to a loss in value, an obligation to compensate for that loss may arise in the cases provided for by law.

For purchases made in the course of a commercial activity, return conditions are agreed separately; the consumer right of withdrawal does not automatically apply to them.

Damage and complaints

Transport damage, incorrect deliveries and defects of the goods are handled independently of withdrawal and of any voluntary return.

If a problem occurs, please contact us and, where possible, attach photos of the goods and packaging. This helps us resolve the case.

The provisions on opened products do not restrict the buyer's statutory rights in the event of defects, incorrect deliveries or transport damage.
