Ambrofix 10 % in DPG is a solution of 10% Ambrofix™ (Givaudan) in dipropylene glycol. Ambrofix™ is Givaudan's Ambroxan. Scent character: a clear amber-like radiance and transparent woody-amber depth. Notes: Ambery, Woody, Dry. At low dosages it strengthens a formula without becoming perceptible itself.

About the solution and its purpose

This product is a 10% solution of the perfumery material named on this page in dipropylene glycol (DPG). 10% is the highest concentration at which the material reliably stays dissolved in DPG at room temperature over a long period. It is made to our order in small batches from the original source material. The finished solution is an independent offer of our shop: it is not made or released by the manufacturer of the source material. The manufacturer or trade name is mentioned to identify the raw material used.

The format is intended above all for getting to know the material, for learning experiments and for first perfume compositions of your own. It suits those who are starting to study perfumery raw materials and prefer to work with a small amount of pre-diluted material, without buying and dissolving crystalline raw material themselves. The solution can also be used for small creative experiments and trial formulas.

This is an introductory pack of a perfumery raw material, not a finished perfume, a cosmetic product or a kit for making a finished product. Pre-dilution makes dosing easier, but it does not replace learning about the material's properties, the rules for safe handling and the restrictions for the chosen application. The 10% concentration does not in itself mean that the solution is suitable for direct application to the skin.

Working with the solution

The material should be evaluated with its concentration and the presence of DPG in mind. The impression of the solution may differ from that of the undiluted raw material or of a solution in another carrier. The intensity and character of odour perception are individual; the scent description serves as a guide and does not guarantee the same perception for every user.

When formulating, take into account both the content of the aroma material and the amount of DPG introduced. The suitability of the solution for a particular formula, its compatibility with other components, and the clarity and stability of the finished composition should be checked on a small trial sample. We do not guarantee a specific result in individual formulas.

Appearance and storage

Slight differences in colour and clarity between batches are possible. Depending on the properties of the particular material and the storage conditions, including temperature, crystals may form. This is a physical process and does not affect the quality of the material.

If crystals have formed or the solution has become non-uniform, do not take only the liquid part: this may change the actual concentration of the portion used. To redissolve the crystals, warm the closed bottle in a water bath to 40–50 °C, shaking it vigorously several times, until the solution is completely clear. Do not heat above 60 °C, and do not use an open flame or a microwave.

Please consider the purpose of this pack before buying. If your work requires undiluted raw material, a different solvent, another concentration or specific technical characteristics and documents, please check whether the product meets your requirements before ordering.

Hazard information (CLP labelling)

According to the manufacturer, the source material Ambrofix™ (Givaudan) is not classified as hazardous under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP). The 10% solution in DPG is labelled in accordance with CLP on the container label.
