Ambrofix™ by Givaudan
Ambroxan-type molecule for fine fragrance
Ambrofix™ is Givaudan's trade name for the Ambroxan molecule (CAS 6790-58-5 / 3738-00-9), produced through a multi-step biotechnological process from sugarcane.
One of the most widely used amber materials in modern perfumery. Not because it is loud – but because it works quietly: more depth, more projection, more tenacity, without stepping into the foreground itself.
At dosages from traces to 2%, Ambrofix™ remains perceptible on the blotter for a month.
Odor profile of Ambrofix™
Ambrofix™ is perceived as:
- dry woody amber
- warm mineral facets
- clear ambery radiance
- dry tobacco nuances
- transparent woody-amber depth
- subtle skin warmth
- a long-lasting drydown
The character is dry, warm and clearly contoured. Pronounced sweetness stays in the background. The effect is perceived less as a single note – rather as an added dimension that lends the composition cohesion and depth.
What is Ambrofix™ used for?
- amber and woody-amber accords
- tenacity and substantivity
- diffusion and projection
- a woody-ambered base
- woody, amber and musk compositions
- refining the drydown
- a skin-close amber effect
At low dosages, Ambrofix™ strengthens a formula without becoming perceptible itself. At higher concentrations it builds a woody-amber character of its own.
Stability
Ambrofix™ shows excellent stability across a broad pH range – from fabric softeners and shampoos to soaps and detergents. Rated ★★★★★ by Givaudan in every application type tested.
Biotechnological origin
Ambrofix™ is produced by Givaudan through a multi-step biotechnological process from sugarcane. The material contains 100% renewable carbon, is readily biodegradable and carries no aquatic ecotoxicity classification.
