Patent Library

Patent Library – the patents behind the aroma materials

Behind many molecules in our range there is a patent: who invented it, when, and what exactly was protected. Here we have collected the patents we have verified ourselves for our materials – each with a link to the original document.

How to read the entries

  • Priority is the date of the first filing, grant the date on which the patent was issued.
  • Links: the patent number opens Espacenet, the official database of the European Patent Office. “Full text” opens the document on Google Patents for easier reading.
  • Status as stated by Google Patents, or roughly 20 years from filing. This is for orientation only, not legal advice.
  • Not every patent protects the molecule itself. Some cover a manufacturing process, a precursor or a use – this is noted in each case.

6. Materials without a patent found

For the following materials we have not found a patent we could clearly attribute: Cetalor, Silvanone Supra, Oxyoctaline Formate, Isobutavan, Rum Acetal, Vanillin PG Acetal and Coumarone. For captive molecules, manufacturers rarely publish which patent belongs to which trade name. Exaltolide® goes back to the macrocycle chemistry of the 1920s; there is no patent relevant to it today.

The library grows with our range. All information comes from the linked patent documents.
